Jasmine has been a public school teacher working at her junior high school alma mater teaching Chinese for over six years. She is currently beginning her ministry as a pastor in Chinatown.

Jasmine has been leading worship for more than 14 yrs, and it is her heart to see everyone worship God in the Spirit and in Truth. She has spoken at conferences, such as NY Summer Conference @ Hofstra U. and Teen Eastern Chinese Bible Conference (TECBC), fellowships (InterVarsity @St. John’s and Binghamton U.), as well as at Chinese churches on various topics, such as Worship, Comparative Religions, the Holy Spirit & Spiritual Gifts, Prayer and Mentoring.

Jasmine currently attends Church of the Living Lord (CLL) and recently started the English Adult Congregation there in the Fall ‘08. The English service meets every 1st and 3rd Sunday from 1:45-4pm at MS 131 on 100 Hester Street in Chinatown. We have combined worship, announcements, communion and benediction with the youth and split for age-appropriate teaching. All are welcome! The 2nd and 4th Sundays are combined with youth.

Jasmine became involved with ministry in Chinatown through CCHC’s Herald Gospel Camp ministry as a Counselor and Speaker during the summer of 2003. At the time, she was a public school teacher teaching 6th grade at her alma mater. However, God’s irresistible call to CCHC’s Herald Youth Center led her to volunteer and eventually work there as the Education Coordinator. She worked there as a full-time Youth Minister until Summer 2006 running the After School Program, ESL, Study Buddies, and Summer Adventure Club (SAC) ministries, and serving as staff at Herald Gospel Camp. Although she’s teaching again, she continues to be involved with the Herald Youth Center during the school yr by visiting often, and during summers serving as volunteer staff at Herald Gospel Camp. She was presented the award of “Honorary Staff” along with a few others at the HYC JOY2008 fundraiser.

Jasmine was an active member of OCM Vision Church from Jan. 2000- Nov. 2006, where she was a Worship Leader for four yrs and sat on the Worship Committee for two. She also co-led Women’s Growth Group, and taught Sunday School classes on Comparative Religions as a part of her former role as Vice-Chair of the Missions Committee. Prior to that, she was at Oversea Chinese Mission (OCM) main church from 1992-1999, where as a teen, she was baptized, discipled and began to lead worship as a youth staff at Cana, the high school fellowship. While attending Connecticut College, she was a member of both the Baptist Campus Ministry and InterVarsity, where she was Chapter President in her senior year. It was in college during her freshman year that God called her to full-time ministry. As a result, she has been on various missions trips overseas – Turkey, India, and China (for one year). In addition, she has studied abroad in Taiwan, conducted research in Japan, attended a conference in Thailand and visited France, Malaysia, and Singapore.

  • Partner Relations Team as the Community News Editor in charge of the blog.

Jasmine graduated from Connecticut College in 1999 with a B.A. Asian Studies and Chinese. She also graduated from Mercy College in 2008 with an M.S. Childhood Education & Students w/Disabilities. She is currently in seminary school at Alliance Theological Seminary. She started in the Fall of ‘09 and is working towards a Masters of Professional Studies (M.P.S) Chinese Studies. (This is a Chinese church ministry degree.) While she would love to get a full M.Div instead, working full-time and pastoring part-time doesnt leave her much TIME!

Jasmine’s guilty pleasures include

• hanging out with her new husband, Tom
• reading mostly fantasy novels, theological books, children’s literature and various print & online comics.
  • Her favorite series’ are Harry Potter, Heralds of Valdemar, Wheel of Time, Artemis Fowl, and the Series of Unfortunate Events
  • Jasmine belongs to an online forum where fans of the Wheel of Time (Wot) series gather to discuss the books and play together.
    • She is Charis al’Aslan, Blue Sitter (Org) on DM.
• loving the Whedonverse: Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, ANGEL, Firefly, and ok – she’ll give Dollhouse a try!
  • She has designed, but put on hold working on building her own online community for fans of Buffy & ANGEL.
• re-watching DVDs of Buffy, ANGEL, Firefly, ST:TNG, ST:Voyager, Heroes, Smallville, 24, LOST, Quantum Leap, Powerpuff Girls, ThunderCats and Voltron
• singing Hillsong’s worship music
• studying Asian languages
• updating her blogs/forums
• ranting about Biblical Equality to anyone who’ll listen and many who won’t
• teaching her congregation to follow Jesus better
• finding better ways to learn and teach Chinese
• doing Beth Moore Bible Studies (currently “A Heart Like His”)
• learning to cook
• emailing obsessively
